Kazuri Properties CiC is a social lettings agency that works to empower tenants to become stakeholders and valuable contributors to society. We do this by repairing social bonds through a personal route map to self sustainability.

We are a core team made up of 15 (including volunteers) passionate, skilled and committed people surrounded and supported by a network of nationally recognised and active housing, resettlement, employment and rehabilitation specialists committed to our organisation whose expertise we draw on including Lynne Franks, Elaine France and Marion Green, leaders in the field. We work with Women and Girls Network and EAVES, supporting women who have suffered trauma with cutting edge counselling once they are sustainably housed.

Kazuri is a proud member of Unlock, the National Association for Reformed Ex Offenders and the following organisations.

We are regulated by the Property Ombudsman and achieved our Community Interest Company designation in May 2012.

  • Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future."
    Oscar Wilde
  • "Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage."

  • "Loss of liberty is the most extreme form of punishment we have. It has to be well regulated and managed and must meet exacting standards. People in prison should always be treated with decency and respect and arrangements for commissioning and contracting must ensure proper oversight and full accountability."

    Juliet Lyon

  • "Two men look out the same prison bars; one sees mud and the other stars."

    Frederick Langbridge

  • "Within yourself deliverance must be searched for, because each man makes his own prison."

    Edwin Arnold

  • "Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison."

    Henry David Thoreau

  • "The evidence - if you look at trends over time and in different countries - shows no obvious relationship between imprisonment and crime rates. We need to change direction and shift away from prison to community-based projects."

Rob Allen, the director of the International Centre for Prison Studies at King's College London

  • "Big Society for me is not really about volunteering and philanthropy, it's about changing the agenda for those at the bottom of our society and in my view the Government hasn't really thought through, across all departments, the radical economic implications of that."

    Phillip Blond, ResPublica

  • "The only time that outsiders have been allowed to comment on the working of the Prisons Department and Prison Service has been when they have been brought in to write reports following disasters - a remark that was made to me in my first week as chief inspector."

    Sir David Ramsbotham
